One of my teachers, Aviva Romm, MD, has been known to say that Ashwagandha should be infused into our water supply. That is because the traditional uses of the plant include support for the body’s response to stress. Who doesn’t have stress? To make the syrup, we decoct (cook), our roots for nearly an hour before preserving in syrup. Use this earthy, bitter syrup when in the mood for an unusual and grounding beverage. Combine with seltzer, with spicy herbs such as turmeric and ginger to balance the bitter, and/or in coconut milk. Use hot or cold.
Herbal Blend: Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)
Other Ingredients: Filtered Water, Certified Organic Cane Sugar, Certified Organic Withania somnifera*, citric acid (preservative).
How To Use: Mix 1 Tablespoon (15 mL) with 16 ounces (500 mL) seltzer water, tea, or filtered water.
